Viva Rosso - Viva Rosso is a new and exciting wine made exclusively for Llano Estacado Winery. Viva Rosso is made from grapes originating in Piedmonte, Italy in the province of Alessandria. In the tradition of this region Viva Rosso is made in a style that is slightly spritzy and bottled under pressure. Viva Rosso is a blend of two classic DOCG grape varieties, Brachetto (known in Italy as Brachetto d’Acqui) and the extremely popular Moscato d’Asti. Our grapes are processed in Italy and produced using an arrested fermentation technique making Viva Rosso a partially fermented juice. This process results in a small amount of natural CO2 being dissolved in the wine giving it the characteristic “spritz”. Viva Rosso is bottled in Italy using special equipment to retain its spritz. After bottling, the cases are loaded on a refrigerated container and shipped to Texas. Our winemaker created this unique blend and made the trip to Italy to supervise the fermentation and bottling.

Tempranillo Reserve - Our 2011 Cellar Reserve Tempranillo is made from grapes grown exclusively on the Texas High Plains Appellation. Our winemakers combined Tempranillo grapes from the Newsom Vineyard of Plains, Tx, and the Reddy Vineyard from Brownfield, Tx, along with Merlot also from the Newsom Vineyard. This wine exhibits the spice aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg. Plum, jam and vanilla flavors are complimented by cedar and pecan notes. With smooth tannins and a balanced acidity, this wine will pair with a variety of meals, such as full flavored pasta dishes, pepper crusted rib-eye, or try a mild dry aged cheese such as gouda. Enjoy!

2009 Sangiovese - Sangiovese is an Italian cultivar that is well suited for sometimes unforgiving climates. Working with this varietal for over a decade, McPherson Cellars has developed a consistent style which mimics many of the Sangiovese wines of Tuscany. At the heart of the bouquet is a stunning red licorice and black cherry cola aroma. Aging exclusively in French oak marries this varietal character with a delicate oak nuance and adds a beautiful texture which brings further depth and richness to this wine. Its not Italian, but its McPherson, and that's enough.

2012 Albariño - Albariño is a varietal that is well known on the Iberian Peninsula (that's Spain and Portugal to those without a map in hand). In Portugal, the style is lean and acidic, a definite contrast to the more lush and full bodied styles originating from Spain. Known for being the "white wine" of this region, Albariño is not widely planted outside of this Mediterranean enclave. McPherosn Cellars is pleased to release this second vintage of Texas Albariño which strikes the perfect balance of crisp fruit aromas and flavors. Exotic scents of peach, mango, pear and apple are married with the rich and velvety texture that this wine has to offer. Some may say "¡Viva España!, here at McPherson Cellars we say "¡Viva Albariño!"
